We have big news for Queensland projects.
Beerwah Coast Connect has been awarded to a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke, Hatch and Georgiou for design and pre-construction works in Beerwah and surrounding areas (brownfield works).
CoastalTraX has also been awarded to a joint venture between ACCIONA and Georgiou for design and pre-construction works connecting with the brownfield package east of Steve Irwin Way through to Caloundra (greenfield works).
The contract to deliver the European Train Control System (ETCS) signalling solution and data radio systems has been awarded to Alstom and UGL.

What is The Wave?
The Wave will deliver a direct passenger rail connection between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane for the first time. Stages 1 and 2 will run from Beerwah to Birtinya, with new stations at:
Bells Creek (Aura)
Caloundra
Aroona
Birtinya
The project will integrate with the future Sunshine Coast Metro (stage 3), creating a seamless connection through Maroochydore CBD to the Sunshine Coast Airport.

Why it matters
The Wave is expected to:
Cut peak travel times to Brisbane and Moreton Bay by more than 45 minutes compared to driving
Provide faster, more reliable and sustainable transport options
Reduce congestion on the road network
Unlock more than 3,000 affordable and diverse homes around new stations over the next decade
