Unitywater was undergoing a major transition to a new commercial delivery model for its $400M annual capital program. This shift came at a time when key specialist staff were leaving the organisation, and a review of existing consultant agreements revealed poor value outcomes. The organisation urgently needed skilled commercial expertise to avoid delays, financial losses, and reputational risk.

We were asked to help Brisbane City Council to find two Senior Project Managers for the first Games 2032 venue, Victoria Park/Barrambin. The project was a high-profile and highly politicised development requiring resilient individuals who demonstrated a rare mix of detailed planning, project development experience and practical construction nous supported by diplomacy and the ability to navigate cross-departmental bureaucracy.

Taking this iconic project from concept to completion over a 4-year duration was going to be a challenge and definitely not for the fainthearted, as they were to tackle a scope including:

2. New signalised intersection, Herston Rd.
3. Busway bridge collaborating with TMR
4. Large Carpark
5. Shelter Packages
6. 7-metre-wide Emergency Vehicle Path
7. Adventure Playground

4020 Consult was asked to support the delivery of the Clarke Creek Wind Farm project, the largest project of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The project is located 150 km north-west of Rockhampton and 150 km south-west of Mackay on the Broadsound Range.

This was an urgent call for professional contracting engineers to support a variety of council projects. A challenging location with the main offices being in Cleveland. Highly technical assignments with an urgent deadline. We found the team quickly back in 2023, they have all been working out well, only initially engaged for 12 weeks but all extended into 2024 and some being considered for permanent roles within the council.

4020 Consult was tasked with sourcing a team of professionals across Commercial, Contracts, Cost and Planning functions for the project in a very short timeframe. The 4020 team was led by Joel Martin with the support of Sharon Wood. 4020’s success standing up this project team was a result of the close relationship between Joel, Sharon and JukesTodd. Joel spent time in the JukesTodd office so intimately understood the project demands and the clients requirements then used his extensive network to source best fit professionals within a short timeframe.

Ipswich City Council were about to undertake the largest Road Construction projects in their history (not managed by TMR staff). They realised the gaps they had in their team and in May of 2022 they contacted 4020 Consult to engage the right project delivery team.
