After five years of planning, consultation and assessment, the Comiskey Group has received approval for its proposed Eco Tourist Park and 155-hectare festival site at Coochin Creek – milestone projects set to boost tourism, jobs and economic growth on the Sunshine Coast.

The Holiday Resort is expected to attract approximately 20,000 additional visitors to the region and generate an estimated $34 million across the Sunshine Coast. The resort will feature 75 camping and caravan sites alongside 75 cabins, ranging from one- to three-bedroom options. The design also includes a waterplay park, swim-up bar, jumping pillow, pickleball courts and putt putt golf.

Coochin Fields has been approved to host events of up to 35,000 visitors, giving the Sunshine Coast its first permanent, purpose-built festival site.

Both projects bring positive environmental outcomes. While 0.6 hectares of vegetation will be cleared for the resort, more than 3 hectares of the site will be revegetated, restoring native trees and plants to land that has been largely cleared through past agricultural use.

The projects will be delivered by the Comiskey Group’s in-house construction team, creating local jobs during construction and ongoing roles once the sites open. The Group brings deep experience to the project, having developed and operated the award-winning Sandstone Point Holiday Resort, along with other high-profile Sunshine Coast hospitality and tourism assets.

Comiskey Group Director David Comiskey described the decision as a rewarding outcome after years of work, noting the project would be a unique destination tailored specifically to its location and community.

The two approvals represent a substantial private investment in tourism and events infrastructure for the region. The Eco Tourist Park is anticipated to open within two years, while expressions of interest are now being taken for events at Coochin Fields.
