Early works are now underway on the Gabba Entertainment and Housing Precinct. Geotechnical drilling has kicked off, giving project teams critical data to inform foundation design for the new 17,000-seat indoor arena.
The precinct is set to deliver thousands of new homes, along with retail, hospitality and mixed-use spaces.

From stadium to precinct
The plan will see the existing Gabba eventually demolished, making way for a new, smaller-scale entertainment hub ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Post-Games, the site will transition further into a housing-led precinct, helping to address inner-city demand while activating the area long-term.

Two heavyweights in the running
From an initial eight bids, two global consortia have been shortlisted to deliver the project:
Brisbane Entertainment Alliance Consortium
Capella Capital
Lendlease (Construction & Development)
AEG
Legends Global
Gather Brisbane Consortium
Plenary Group
Live Nation
Oak View Group (OVG)
Both groups bring serious firepower. AEG operates major venues like London’s The O2, while Live Nation is a global leader in live entertainment and ticketing. On the delivery side, names like Lendlease and Plenary Group add strong infrastructure and PPP credentials.
The shortlisted teams will now move into detailed design development, with a final decision expected later this year.

What happens next?
Site prep is due to ramp up mid-year, with construction targeting a 2027 start.
This marks yet another major piece of the Brisbane 2032 pipeline coming into focus, and one we’re watching closely as designs evolve and delivery partners are locked in.
